Corporate Governance

Acting Responsibly Today for Tomorrow and Beyond.

We embrace our responsibilities to the environment, society, and all of our stakeholders. As a company with a foundation in the plastics industry, we are committed to pursuing sustainable, profitable growth that benefits our society and the planet.

We design and innovate according to our set of principles which guide us and ensure positive impacts for a circular and sustainable future while meeting the requirements of our customers and the market.

We Care About Our Planet

Our Environmental Management System provides a structured approach to ascertain that our products, services, and processes safeguard the planet's resources and environment.

By continuously investing in and upgrading our facilities, equipment, and processes, we aim to exceed both regulatory requirements and customers’ expectations. This commitment drives efficiency and ensures lean, responsible operations. Staying ahead of legislative policies allows us to maintain our leadership in market expertise, consistently adding value and enabling our customers to be one step ahead of market demands.

Protecting Our Planet: The UN Sustainable Development Goals

2. Zero Hunger

Our products increase the shelf-life of packaged food, keeping food fresh and safe while minimizing food waste. Our masterbatches are designed for food compliance, supporting safe food accessibility for all.

3. Good Health and Well-Being

We deliver to the healthcare market, supporting affordable and essential medicine and vaccines for all.

6. Clean Water and Sanitation

Our facilities and processes release no hazardous chemicals into the environment.

7. Affordable and Clean Energy

Our facilities in Switzerland and Malaysia are partly powered by rooftop photovoltaic systems, each generating more than 700,000 kWh annually. This reduces CO2 emissions by over 400 tons per year – equivalent to planting more than 10,000 trees in the same period. Additionally, we have electric car and e-bike charging stations available for our employees and partners at our headquarters in Switzerland.

11. Sustainable Cities and Communities

Our products are applied in smart buildings around the globe to reduce environmental impact.

12. Responsible Consumption and Production

Our products are circular by design. We aspire to keep materials in the loop as long as possible and minimize any leakage into the open environment. Our products are made to be reused, recycled, or composted. We offer a product portfolio to support recycling and biodegradable materials to enable decoupling from fossil fuels.

13. Climate Action

The prevention of climate change is deeply integrated into our strategy with various initiatives such as waste reduction.

14. Life Below Water

Our biodegradable materials meet certifications that guarantee they decompose in specific environments without producing persistent microplastics.

17. Partnerships for the Goals

We value multi-stakeholder partnerships that support the transition to a circular economy and maximize the use of sustainable materials.

We Prioritize Trust and Integrity

Success requires taking educated and measured risks, but it also requires following rules and complying with social expectations. As we strive to continue our journey and grow sustainably and profitably in the field of recyclable, compostable and specialty plastics, our values will play a key role in successfully achieving our goals.

Trust is essential and is the cornerstone of our business's success. We recognize that the trust placed in us by all stakeholders amplifies our responsibility to not only meet but surpass established regulations and fulfill the legitimate expectations of our customers and society.

To ensure our management, employees and suppliers adhere to our expectations within our organization and in interactions with external stakeholders, we have developed a Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct contains the expectations we have as an employer, from the Members of the Board and the CEO to the leadership and all employees at any of our subsidiaries. It defines the standards for business behavior that apply throughout the Sukano Group.

Likewise, we actively work with our external suppliers to ensure their commitment and adherence to the principles laid down in the Code of Conduct for Suppliers.

Corporate Culture

Our employees contribute, through a clearly and genuinely positive attitude, to our standards and values and our corporate culture. This positively shapes the working environment and builds a solid foundation for a flourishing business.

Compliance with Statutory Regulations

Our employees undertake to follow all statutory regulations, meet ethical standards, promote team spirit and act with goodwill and in good faith towards the company, their fellow colleagues, and our external stakeholders.

Responsibility and Sense of Duty

We actively encourage our employees to help shape the structures and processes within our business. Their contributions are invaluable, and we always ask them to take a critical approach to procedures and decisions and to use the opportunities available to contribute with ideas and improvement proposals.

Business Practices

We operate in an ever-changing and increasingly complex business environment. As a global company we, therefore, have a duty to ensure that the ethical principles by which we operate are observed in our relations with business partners. This creates a strong foundation for sustainable and long-term cooperation. Additionally, we are committed to a fair competitive market.
